Celebrating National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, held from 20 to 26 May 2024. This special event highlights the important role of volunteers in our community and invites people not currently volunteering to become involved.

Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week celebrates and thanks volunteers for the vital role they play in communities across the country. In residential aged care, volunteers play a crucial role in supporting older adults, and we take this opportunity to recognise the significant contributions of our volunteers – who dedicate their time and efforts to improving the lives of seniors.

The theme for National Volunteer Week 2024 is ‘Something for Everyone’, recognising the diverse passions and talents that all people bring to the act of volunteering. According to Volunteering Australia, “It’s an invitation to explore the myriad of opportunities available, emphasising that there’s a place for everyone in the world of volunteering…there’s a place where your unique skills and interests can flourish”.
