The month of April saw our Activities Calendar jam-packed with celebrations, including Easter festivities: Greek Orthodox Easter Egg decorating, an Easter Egg Hunt and Parade, an Easter BBQ, and various denominational services; together with ANZAC Day commemoration services, and arts and crafts activities; plus regular music recitals, movies, gardening activities, sports and exercise, and shopping trips – to name but a few.
At Leigh Place, traditions are not just dates on a calendar, they are moments that connect us to our values, memories, and to each other.
Celebrating key events like Easter and ANZAC Day remains a meaningful part of life for many older Australians. These occasions allow residents to reconnect with their spiritual beliefs, honour their personal histories, and engage with rituals that have brought comfort and purpose over a lifetime.
Easter brings moments of reflection, hope, and togetherness, while ANZAC Day invites us all to pause and remember the service and sacrifice of those who came before us. For our residents, many of whom have lived through wartime or have family connections to the military, ANZAC Day holds deep personal significance.
These celebrations also support emotional wellbeing and foster a sense of community. Whether it is attending our memorial service, sharing stories, participating in craft activities, or simply enjoying traditional food, these shared experiences bring joy and connection.
By continuing to honour these special days, Leigh Place upholds a culture of respect, belonging, and person-centred care, reminding every resident that their story matters.
